BENGALURU MIDNIGHT MARATHON (BMM) PARTNERSHIPS

It is proposed that all partners bring both cash and ‘in kind’ donations to the table. The partners get rights for visibility in all the communication and media. Specific needs of partners regarding charity and advertisements can be worked with partnering partners, to tailor an acceptable deal.

Entitlements for Title Partner

  • The naming of event against the partner as “XYZ event” and the Trophy as the “XYZ event trophy”

The 5K IT City Fun Run is the flagship event of BMM. It is the event that has the maximum participation with thousands turning up for it.  This is an event for people who aren’t professional or serious long-distance runners and yet they love running and want to participate in a smaller 5 km stretch along with friends, families and pets. At BMM, the 5K is run as a single loop.

Running a 5K is a great way to challenge yourself if you’re already a Runner, or to set a goal for yourself if you’re starting to run for the first time. Pace yourself as you build your speed, endurance, and strength, but also be sure to challenge yourself along the way. At BMM, the Fast 5K is run as a single loop.

Distance: 10 KM (2 Loops)

The 10K Run is the T20 Cricket of Marathons across the world. Immensely popular, this event has taken the world by storm. This is an event for people who aren’t professionals but are serious long-distance runners and yet to come to terms with a full Marathon. As one of the shortest common road distances, many 10K races attract high levels of public participation. At BMM, the Race route is of 5 km loop. Hence the 10K is run over 2 loops.

Distance: 21.097 KM (4 loops of 5.27 km each)

Half Marathon is a road running event of 21.0975 km. (13 miles 192.5 yards)—half the distance of a marathon. It is common for a half marathon event to be held concurrently with a marathon or a 5K race, using almost the same course with a late start, an early finish or shortcuts. A half marathon world record is officially recognised by the International Association of Athletics FederationsParticipation in half marathons has grown steadily since 2003, partly because it is a challenging distance, but does not require the same level of training that a marathon does. At BMM, the Race route is made up of 4 loops, each of distance 5.274 km.

Distance: 31.65 KM (6 loops of 5.27 km each) – NEW

If you can run a Half, you are well on your way to being able to run 42.195 km.

The 31.6K Run is a road running event of 31.65 km.  This all new entrant distance has taken the worlds fancy as  the  stepping-stone towards running a Full Marathon.

Distance: 42.195 KM (8 Loops of 5.27 km. each)

The Marathon is a long-distance foot race with a distance of 42.195 kilometres (26 miles 385 yards), usually run as a road race, but the distance can be covered on trail routes. The marathon can be completed by running or with a run/walk strategy.

Annually, more than 900 marathons are organised worldwide. Some of these, like Bengaluru Midnight Marathon are members of Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) which has grown since its foundation in 1982 to embrace over 446 member events in 111 countries and territories. At BMM, the Race route is made up of 8 loops, each, of distance 5.274 km.

Distance: 4 Runners x 5 KM each

A team of 4 individual runners have to complete a circuit of 20 km. by running 5 km. each. The team totalling the least time wins the Cup. 

This event provides an amazing opportunity for these entities to contribute to Corporate Social Responsibilities, align with their employee retention programmes and provide brand building initiatives.

Team gets to participate in a Special Race, which is both  competitive and fun in nature, gets branding on Race day and exclusive space to put up promotional material.

Distance: 4 Runners x 5 KM each

The #FittestStartupChallenge Relay is an innovative and special event created as part of the Bengaluru Midnight Marathon. A team of 4 runners have to complete a circuit of 20 km. by running 5 km. each. The team totalling the least time wins the Cup.

The event is open for participation to all startups, with a base in Bengaluru or India. This event is not open to individuals/team of individuals.

The Community Relay is another exciting and involved team event created to involve communities of all age groups, in and around the Whitefield area in running. The relay gives Community entities an opportunity to be part of the fun, frolic and encourages competition at the Bengaluru Midnight Marathon. As the name suggests, it is a relay, run by a team of five people in various age groups to run a distance of 500m. each. A community may enter up to 4 teams.

Distance: 5 Runners X 100 M Each

The Government schools children only need an opportunity to excel. They have been doing it consistently in academics, on the football field and in extracurricular activities. Now let’s create a National Running Champion.

Associate Partners

Associate Partners either bring cash to the table or a service. Ideally, there should be a cash component involved even though they offer a free product/service.

Entitlements: Branding across print & outdoor media and at-venue branding. Branding in poster campaigns, at corporate campuses and ground activation. Social media and digital marketing opportunities.

Examples of Associate Partners would be:

Hospitality Partner

Typically, a Star Hotel provide ‘in kind’ Banqueting space, food, and stay for Athletes/Dignitaries. They host the Press Conference, pre-race Pasta Party, and Post Race Thank you Party.

In front of the Marathon, Half Marathon and 10k Run, there is always a Lead car. This car can be partnered with a car manufacturer/distributor. The Car becomes the Lead car and is branded with the Manufacturer’s message. A prime display space is also provided at the venue.

Considering the grueling Marathon and other races, critical Medical facilities are required at the venue, and on the race route. We need 4-5 Ambulances with trained Nurses, Doctors and emergency care equipment on route and a medical tent with beds, trained Nurses and Doctors at the venue. This is a service and typically comes with a cash component.

Banking Partner typically facilitates the financial transactions involved, For example a separate account for the event, Online Credit Card payment gateway, etc.

The timing partner should typically be a watch manufacturer. They provide us with big clocks for timing of the race. Typically, four of them. Two on lead vehicles of the race and two at the venue. This service though not necessary, does add spice to the event.

Typically, a product partner. They provided the runners with free beverages. These products should not in any way be adverse to health.

Water is essential to a race and large quantities are consumed. We have to provide water to all participants on Race day and other events.

Technology partner can provide, registration facilitation services, Call Center services and cover the cost of the RFID based timing chips used by marathoners and half marathoners.

Each year, we have a Rock Band/Musical Performance at the event. We also showcase traditional Karnataka performances, dholaks etc. on the route. The Entertainment partner will be expected to fit the bill of the show and performers.

Apparel partner is expected to provide us with t-shirts for all the Runners, officials, and volunteers at the race. Typically, this will be around 7,500 people. They can sell official merchandise through their outlets. They are also expected to pay for the association.

Since the races are being held during the hours of the night, we will be using extensive lighting. A lighting partner would be expected to foot the bill for the lighting.

Since the race is a running race this is a great opportunity for sports shoes makers to associate with the event and gain mileage. Typically, the outlets of these stores help promote the race.

Team Participation For The Relay Events

Corporate Team Challenge Participation

Corporates/NGO’s/Clubs register a team of 4 individual runners. This event provides an amazing opportunity for these entities to contribute to Corporate Social Responsibilities, align with their employee retention programmes and provide brand building initiatives.

How Many: Max. of 4 Teams per Corporate/entity.

Registration Amount:
Gold Package – Rs. 40,000/- per team

Platinum Package – Rs. 1,00,000/- per team (includes 50 free individual race registrations)

Entitlements: Team gets to participate in a Special Race, which is both competitive and fun in nature, gets branding on Race day and exclusive space to put up promotional material

Startup companies can register a team of 4 individual runners. This event too, provides an amazing opportunity for these entities to contribute to align with their employee retention programmes and provide brand building initiatives.

How Many: Max. of 4 Teams per Startup

Registration Amount: Rs. 25,000/- per team

Entitlements: Team gets to participate in a Special Race, which is both competitive and fun in nature, gets branding on Race Day and exclusive space to put up promotional material

The Community Relay gives an opportunity to the communities to participate as a group. It brings communities together and creates a great event for bonding and building teamwork for all ages. Communities cheer their own teams and make the evening a fun event, replete with food, music and running.

How Many: Max. of 4 Teams of 5 runners in each age group per community.

Registration Amount: Rs. 2,500/- per team

Pre And Post Race Events Partnership

CXO Power Mile Partnership

A Special pre-race day event set up especially for CEO’s/CXOs of large IT and other companies. Last few years, more than 150 of them have participated in this event. It starts with light entertainment, continued by a 1 Mile walk/run and followed by cocktails and lunch. It’s a great opportunity for targeting corporate entities CEO’s/CXOs for partnerships and participation. Also a great PR Opportunity.

Entitlements: Brand integrated event, branding at venue/route plus access to HNI

Traditional pasta party/carbohydrate loading party traditionally held for athletes but are now a social affair attended primarily by international athletes, Media, partners, Page 3 people and officials.

Entitlements: Branding and press release on same. Plus branding across print & outdoor media and at venue branding. Branding in poster campaign at corporate campuses and ground activation.

When there is so much excitement and running, why should our pets be left behind. The Pet-a-thon is conducted as a run up to the Marathon. Games are conducted for the pets and lots of goodies and prizes to be won in various events

A party to celebrate the marathon task of conducting a Marathon. It is primarily a social affair attended by international athletes, Media, partners, Page 3 people and officials and volunteers.

Additional Revenue Streams

Art Auction

As an additional revenue stream, we can rope in artists to donate some of their paintings for auction at any of the pre or post-race events. Hotel provides free hospitality and we charge people attending a fixed sum per couple.

Printing of Coffee table book with the branding of the partner. The book will basically capture all the action of the Marathon through photographs.

Entitlements: Branding in book, venue and Press Release. Distribution to over 500 Corporates.

Bulk Corporate participation has always been a key part of the number of people participating in the event. Decisions taken at top-level management can ensure large participation. Great HR initiative for employee motivation and empowerment.
